Coral Reef:
Diani’s gigantic coral reef is not only a natural shield against large sea creatures, but also protects us from high waves, ensuring quiet and calm waters. During low tide, the reef is visible and is also a great snorkeling site. We are happy to arrange a guided trip for you in a Ngalawa traditional fishing boat or glass bottom boat..
Kongo River:
A few Kilometres from Golden Duranta is the Kongo River, a natural estuary dividing Diani from Tiwi and the best place to watch the sunset in Diani. We can arrange a tuk-tuk ride and a boat trip up the river where you enjoy the sunset, flora and thriving birdlife. The best time to go is an hour before sunset, around 5:00pm.
Kongo Mosque:
At the mouth of the Kongo River lies a 16th Century mosque said to be the oldest mosque in East Africa, a relic of the ancient Swahili civilizations that once controlled the coast.
The coral mosque is still in use and can be visited, although visitors are required to dress respectively.
Dolphin Safari:
Wasini island and the Kisite Mpunguti Marine Park lie about an hour’s drive south of Diani.
A day trip can be arranged that will include transportation in a Swahili dhow, Dolphin spotting, excellent Snorkeling, lunch and a guided tour of Wasini Island.
Shimba Hills:
About an hour’s drive away is the Shimba Hills National Reserve, East Africa’s second largest tropical forest and home to Sheldrick Falls; the highest Waterfall on the Kenyan coast.
We can arrange a day trip that includes a Wildlife Safari and a guided hike to the waterfall.
Bora Bora Wildlife Park:
Interact with, and even get a chance to hand-feed some of Kenya’s famous wildlife right here in Diani. The park is located only a 20 minute drive from us and is home to giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, crocodiles, warthogs, colobus monkeys, tortoises, ostriches and other species.
